At Damen Yachting’s shipyard in Antalya, Turkey, the third support vessel in the YS53 series has been successfully launched. The 53.3-meter utility yacht is to undergo final outfitting, sea trials, and preparations before delivery to its owner, scheduled for the summer of 2025.

The YS53’s design is built around three core principles: durability, reliability, and seaworthiness. Its bold and functional appearance is defined by a powerful axe-shaped bow, slanted bridge windows, and prominent spray deflectors. Key technical specifications include a gross tonnage of just under 500 GT and a top speed of 19 knots.

The vessel features a large, versatile cargo deck that can be transformed into an event space or used to store a wide array of “toys” and expedition equipment. It is equipped with a 15-tonne crane for handling tenders and other loads. Additionally, the reinforced deck can be used as a helipad.

Exterior spaces are versatile and functional, including the large aft platform that can be configured as an event space, a place for "making scientific discoveries," or capacious storage, installed with a 15-tonne crane for launching tenders and toys. A reinforced deck also allows for touch-and-go helicopter operations.

"Today's launch really reflects the fact that the YS53 is coming into its own as a series," said Damen Yachting's Pim Oostra, who worked as project manager for the build. "We are looking forward to the final build stages as we prepare everything ready for completion this summer."
