The Swiss manufacture Ulysse Nardin revealed an unusual Royal Sapphire wristwatch. Housed in a fully transparent sapphire crystal case, the watch shows off the movement in great detail in two striking colours: ruby and blue.

The process of crafting 44mm sapphire cases is extremely complex and expensive, as the material itself is susceptible to destruction during the machining and polishing process. At the centre of the sapphire case is Ulysse Nardin's own calibre UN-79. Composed of 209 components and equipped with a flying tourbillon, the movement is hand-wound and provides up to 96 hours of power.

A striking accent that draws even more attention is the bridges and plates made of coloured spinel. The watch is completed with a classic alligator strap and the model can be purchased for $328,300 on the official website.
